Supporting families to get out of hunger and poverty often starts with a conversation. Church World Service talks to families and community leaders about what challenges they are facing. They listen as local people tell them what training, information, resources or supplies they need. From there, CWS teams up with trusted partners and program participants to fill the gaps. That could mean finding ways for people to earn a living, like fishing or running a shop. It could mean starting or expanding vegetable gardens that will fill bellies and earn extra income. Sometimes it means accessing clean water and sanitary toilets. Or it may mean several of these things at once.

They focus on sustainable solutions, ensuring
that people can build on the foundations that CWS programs start. It also means connecting them to health clinics, schools, markets and any other services they may need to continue to keep moving forward.

The Outreach Committee is sponsoring a Church World Service Tools of Hope Day on Father’s Day, June 21. Honor your father or special friend with a donation of $10 or more in his name and receive a gift card to send him on Father’s Day. The cards and lists for honor or memorial contributions will be available in the hallway behind the Chancel June 7 and 14 or by contacting me at jaward1010@comcast.net. Offering envelopes will be available in the pews for donations of any amount if no card is desired. If your offering envelope donation is in honor of someone living or in memory of someone who has passed who you wish included in the Father’s Day bulletin, just print the name and appropriate list on the offering envelope. Checks made payable to FCC-Outreach with CWS Tools on the memo line make recording keeping easier.

Thank you, JoAnn Ward, Outreach Committee
